Aim and scope
The objective of the work has been to produce a practically-oriented document which deals with the principles of moisture and mold control of buildings. The focus is in the conditions of cold climates where the primary causes of moisture problems is usually not the high relative humidity of indoor air, but rather in the defects of insulation and moisture protection, and harsh climatic conditions.
Status
The draft document of about 75 pages has been produced by several contributors consisting of experts in building physics, moisture damage and repair consulting, indoor air and microbiology.
The draft document has been comprehensively discussed in the workshop at the Healthy Buildings 2000 Conference in Helsinki (see their homepage at www.hb2000.org, Workshop WS 19).
Based on the feedback and comments of the participants, the final draft will be completed by September 2001. After this, the document will be reviewed and the final report is expected to be published in 2002.
