05-09-2003 New guidelines for award sponsorship by 3rd parties
Awards and/or fellowships are a means of recognizing work done by an individual(s) and/or group(s) to foster and promote ISIAQ's purpose as stated in ISIAQ's constitution. Such awards and/or fellowships might be supported by entities such as profit and non-profit organizations and by private and or public institutions which recognize, share and sustain ISIAQ's vision. The awards would not be ISIAQ's, but awards offered by external entities with ISIAQ's approval.
An ad hoc committee of at least 5 members nominated by ISIAQ BOD, which could include representatives of the award sponsors, identifies winner(s) of all awards and/or fellowships to be assigned on a particular occasion (for example during HBxx conference). Such an award will be openly endorsed and will be publicized in ISIAQ and the Conference materials. Such publicity should also name the award sponsor. However, the organizations offering the awards will have no rights to the ISIAQ logo, or any additional rights outside those listed above.
The awards and/or fellowships might be established according to the following rules:
1. A 3rd party can sponsor an award assigned through ISIAQ or HB-20XY. Such an award should not be too narrowly focused (Young Investigator award, Significant Policy Presentation award, Best Ventilation Paper award, ...).
2. A 3rd party may sponsor an award to be offered only once (for example during one conference only). In this case the value of the award is to be no less than 1000 Euros.
3. A 3rd party may sponsor an award, which would have a continuity. In this case its value would range from 300 Euros upwards, and the sponsor should commit a sum in the order of 10 times the sum of the award for this purpose. Depending on how this is invested its interest and principal could both be used to pay the awards.
