Aim and scope
Scientific knowledge of good indoor climate is not always disseminated and used, in practice, in a proper way. Especially, in questions concerning the planning, designing, construction and maintenance of the buildings, decision makers, building owners, architects, engineers, etc. should be better aware of how to achieve good indoor climate and how to eliminate the reasons of unhealthy buildings. Different means and ways for this dissemination have been in use in different countries and these experiences would help to spread the fruitful dissemination process world-wide. The proper use of the best scientific indoor air knowledge is important to the whole process of construction and maintaining of healthy buildings.

The objectives and scope are as follows:
To focus on developing methods and activities/events for the transfer of the available scientific knowledge about Indoor Air Quality/Healthy Buildings to the building and construction community;

To ensure that Hygiene, Health and the Environment are incorporated in the planning of new and in the rehabilitation of old buildings;

To identify Target Groups to whom the knowledge should be addressed.

Note:    This is a joint effort of CIB, International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction (Task Group 28) and ISIAQ (Task Force).

Status
Over the last two years, there were three meetings, the last one being held during the Healthy Buildings 2000 conference in Finland (see workshop WS 11 at www.hb2000.org).

For more than two years, TF has been struggling with the objectives. To be able to get a insight in how to tackle the objectives an inventory was made of the opportunities of TF to full-fill the objectives. This was done by an external analysis of the current trends and the external environment. From that analysis a list of opportunities was defined and a draft business plan was made.

Future activities
It was decided that the target groups to be concentrated on will be:

The building owners and the executives of this world, persons or legal entities who make decisions on how to spend money: insurance companies, investors, building owners

Entities who use the knowledge for their business: lawyers, medical doctors, architects, ..

Companies which make products for buildings: HVAC industry, Building material industry,..

Research institutes.

The following question will be challenged:

What do we need to be able to disseminate Indoor Air Sciences via a web-page construction that provides all the needs and wishes of the selected markets and the members involved with respect to Product (method/tool and contents), Price (financial situation), Place (logistics), Promotion (how do we let the world know), and, Personnel (who is going to do what)?

In the next year, TF is planning to develop a web-page design and possibly a working web-page for Dissemination of Indoor Air Sciences to these target groups. Furthermore, the business plan will be finalised and funding will be searched for.

The next meeting will be held in conjunction with the CLIMA 2000 conference in Naples in Italy (September 2001).
